Academy Director Lyndsey blogs about Spring’s new make-up colours
I can’t quite believe that Spring has not sprung entirely this year. And, if the last few weeks and predicted weather warnings in place for the Easter holiday are anything to go by, then we’re going to have a bit more of a wait.
But lack of good bright Spring weather definitely hasn’t deterred me from keeping an eye on this season’s latest make-up trends and colours – a light at the end of the dark winter tunnel!
Really excited that some of my favourite colours are in this year, in-particular violet which has been seen a lot on the fashion catwalks lately and worn by such famous celebrities as Rhianna and Oprah Winfrey.
And it’s not just about the make-up, violet can be seen in the latest hair colours, sunglasses through to fashionable clothing – even the Queen has been spotted wearing the popular colour.
Violet goes extremely well with the colour pink, another popular shade to add to your make-up bag. These colours are great fun for eyes and really enhance eye colours. Lips can look really luscious especially with some of the great lip glosses that are around at the moment.
And don’t go too heavy with your make-up, this season is all about looking natural and not using contours or heavy liners. It takes practice to get your make-up right but done well it really makes a difference to how you feel and compliments your fashion wardrobe.
Here at the Academy we’ve trained hundreds of students in make-up artistry. Our popular 20-week diploma course in Beauty Therapy Make-Up is a level 3 qualification which will allow you to become a make-up artist, working in theatre, television, on cruise ships or in salons.
We also run a 6-week TCT Level 3 Award in Media Make-Up. You’ll learn how to create casualty effects and character looks using the application of small prosthetics.
We also offer a Level 3 VTCT Award in Fashion & Photographic Make-Up and a Level 3 Facial Electrotherapy Certificate providing students with the necessary theory and practical skills that will enable them to provide Facial Electrical Treatments.
