Prince Harry and Megan get married on Saturday, May 19 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry was christened. In my eyes the date definitely launches this year’s wedding season and I’m sure will be one of the highlights of 2018.
So, if you are thinking of tying the knot and, like me, you can’t afford a big society wedding, here are my tips to looking fabulous on the big day.
Hair magazines are a great inspiration and will give some good advice on the latest trends. However, I’d recommend that if you’ve been with your hairdresser a long time he/she will know exactly what suits you. Go for a consultation and discuss having something different, but make sure it shows off your own personality, after all eyes will be on you all day.
Wearing make-up is a very personal decision. If you don’t wear it at all I would consider it for your wedding, especially as you’ll be the subject of so many pictures that last a lifetime! If you can afford it then I would strongly advise you to employ the services of a make-up artist. They will take time to find out what colours are in your bouquet, what the bridesmaids will be wearing and what hairstyle you’ve gone for. They will even look at what the mothers are wearing so that everything is colour co-ordinated. Wedding make-up looks very natural and gives you a beautiful glow which will last. And don’t forget, make sure one of your bridesmaids looks after your spare make-up so that you can apply it every now and again!
If you want why not go for a full manicure? Always a wise choice as the photographer will more than likely take a photo of your hands after the ceremony! Most hair salons have a nail technician, so you could get your nails done whilst your hair is being styled! This is a great way to spend the wedding morning with familiar faces. Ask your hairdresser if they will give you a special discount on a Wedding Package – you could even invite the bridesmaids and enjoy an early morning glass of prosecco!
If you’ve not had the chance to go abroad and get yourself a tan it might be worth investing in getting a spray tan. I feel so much better when I have one myself and, bonus time, it makes you look slimmer. Try and get one done a few days before the wedding, there are plenty of qualified people who will come to your house if you don’t feel like trekking across town to your nearest beauty salon.
Lastly don’t have any late nights ahead of the wedding, you don’t want dark circles under your eyes. Eat healthy food and drink plenty of water and if you can, do a bit of exercise – even walking your dog is good for the soul.
Happy Wedding Day!
