Academy Director Lyndsey Tidmarsh talks reflexology

There’s nothing I like better than booking myself in for a reflexology session.  I find it particularly beneficial at the end of a busy week on my feet here at the Academy.  The smell of essential oils, relaxing ambient music and a qualified reflexologist really help to ease the pressure in my feet and my whole body feels energised and ready for the days ahead.

This week marks ‘Reflexology Awareness Week’ which brings reflexologists around the world together to raise awareness and promote reflexology.

But what is reflexology?

It is said that reflexology has its origins in Ancient Egypt and China.   Concentrating mainly on the feet, it is based on the long-established principle that there are energy zones running throughout the body and reflex areas in the feet that relate to major organs, glands and body parts.

It is a deeply relaxing massage that can be used as an alternative treatment for a wide variety of conditions.

Applied by the hand using massage techniques it is particularly useful to treat stress leading to improved circulation and well-being.

Here at West Midlands Beauty Academy we offer an intensive Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology which includes all the required elements to work effectively as a reflexologist including, mandatory units covering the following: knowledge and understanding of the principles and business practice, anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies.

You will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide reflexology treatments.

The course duration is 20 weeks and once qualified there’s a whole variety of career opportunities in areas such as
