At this special festive-time I like to look back at the Academy’s achievements over the last 12 months and what a special year it has been for everyone here.
We kicked started the year with a special Red-Carpet Event showcasing the incredible work of our students who attend a range of courses at the Academy. From make-up artistry to nail art, they all got behind the event which for me highlighted the incredible knowledge our tutors pass on.
In the spring we announced details of our partnership with Help for Heroes offering complimentary treatments at the Academy for veterans and their families. Staff offer their time voluntarily each month and we can’t begin to tell you just how much it has enriched our work here at the Academy. A big shout out to Help the Heroes and our amazing staff and students.
It was definitely a BIG year of competition wins for our students. We scooped 4 places at UK Nail Tech at the NEC in Birmingham plus, Stephanie Orchard, one of our Level 3 Nail Technology students, really nailed it when she won Worldskills Nail Competition at the regionals held at Walsall College.
We were extremely proud when Stephanie beat off fierce competition over two intensive days to take Gold for the UK in the National finals. Stephanie will now have the opportunity to go forward and be considered for Team UK selection and represent her country in the forthcoming international finals in Budapest and Kazan in Russia. Go Stephanie!
Here at the Academy we offer an apprenticeship scheme through Protocol Consultancy Services. We are particularly proud that Jaida Preston, who recently achieved her Apprenticeship at the Academy, has now become a full-time member of staff. She’ll be assisting me with vital administration to help the Academy run smoothly. We look forward to helping Jaida train even more in 2018!

West Midlands Nail and Beauty Academy at The Custard Factory.
In 2017 the Academy saw the addition of a whole range of new-courses offering students the chance to increase their portfolio to offer clients a better service and get more work. This year we have added Micro-Blading Eyebrows, Lash Lift and Lip and Eyeliner, 2 Day Waxing Course and Level 3 VTCT Award in Camouflage Make-up. All have proved popular with new students joining the Academy.
As Director and Founder I pride myself in running an independent Academy and am constantly looking at ways to improve my own personal development. This year I’ve attended advanced nail training with Hazel Dixon, Lash Lift Training and IPL/Laser Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation Level 4 amongst others.
In late autumn I was particularly honoured to be a finalist at the Forward Ladies Awards at the Midlands Regional final.
Looking ahead to 2018 the Academy will be hosting an Enrolment Day on 8th January where we’ll be offering career advice and further information about the training we offer so hope to see you there!
In the mean time I’d like to wish all our students, past and present, all the amazing Academy Tutors and those of you who we haven’t met yet a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Healthy New Year!
West Midlands Nail and Beauty Academy will close for Christmas on Friday 21 December and will re-open Monday 3 January 2018.
