Welcome to another blog at West Midlands Nail & Beauty Academy

It has been a rather eventful month, hope you all enjoyed Beauty UK show at the NEC Birmingham over the weekend those of you who attended. If not and you are a little unsure of what Beauty UK is, those of you new to the beauty industry, well it is two whole days of beauty demonstrations and stalls showing the latest techniques and latest products within the industry.

The majority of the well known brands attend to show off their skills and new products that they wish to launch at the show. It is packed full of offers, it was an amazing two days and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn’t get the chance to visit the stalls I wanted to but did visit the Crystal Nails stand and Nail Gaga stands that were really busy, bought some lovely pigment powders some great colours and very reasonably priced also one of my students got offered a job working for Nail Gaga when she qualifies, wow!
As you may be aware we were exhibiting at the show, we had a wonderful time and thank you to those of you who came to visit our stand, we had a lot of interest for courses, salon owners, people wishing to upskill. We will be following up all of the enquiries that we had, so please bear with us, we will contact you over the forth coming week.
I am pleased to announce that we had a winner in UK Nail Tech, one of my Level 2 Nail Tech students Stephanie who competed in two categories. She won third place for student category in Boxed Nail Art which was a huge achievement for Stephanie considering she has only been studying the level 2 course for 2 months as is a complete novice to the industry! She also came 5th in tip and overlay challenge out of 16 students, which was something to celebrate, needless to say she has a bright future ahead of her. She will be entering more competitions from now on, it was her very first comp. It is the only way to improve your skills by entering these competitions to be able to have the experience of it whether you win or not it is the taking part and enrichment that truly matters but a real bonus if you get placed. She also got to use the new Akzentz Led Gel lamp and using the Led Akzentz LED gels which are amazing I must admit and really made a difference when in the competition they cure in 30 seconds, she had a practice run on my nails on Saturday before the competition and I have to admit my nails feel really strong, if you haven’t tried Akzentz products they are amazing if you are a nail tech worth trying you won’t be disappointed, their new summer collection are lovely with beautiful pastel shades which are on trend for the summer.
We will be running some new courses at the academy. We will be offering Level 4 qualifications in IPL (Laser) VTCT and Level 4 Salon Management, Level 3 Make up Artistry Courses, level 3 complementary therapies which will all be going on to our new website we will be having over the forthcoming month.
